It’s hard to deny the raw talent of the ever-flourishing Liv East as her honeyed vocals sail through my headphones and deeply into my soul on her latest commercial release, ‘So Badly – Stripped‘.
The East London songstress enters 2023 hot on the heels of her mega successes of the last year, including multiple festival bookings such as Secret Garden Party, radio coverage on Rinse, Balamii and Mode London to name a few, and an intimate showcase at Ronnie Scott’s.
This, paired with her growing list of impressive singles which sit in that sweet spot between Neo-Soul, House and Dance have left the people wanting more.
Now, Liv gears up for the release of her latest offering, Love Frequency, which drops 31st March. ‘Love Frequency is a call to becoming aware of the power of your thoughts, and that so much lies in how we choose to think’ she tells of the house track, ‘it feels like an important moment for me as an artist in shining a light on the relationship between my personal philosophy & the music I put out – as this song is first and foremost about the message & one for the collective. ’
Love Frequency’s hypnotic tropical beats paired with velvety funk bass and live saxophone make for the perfect foundation for Liv’s acrobatic vocals to dance effortlessly around our heads, making it hard to leave the luscious sonic world she beautifully creates. It’s a stand out track to be drawn back into time and time again to get that sweet hit of pure, soulful house goodness.
Born out of a lyrical concept that she wrote in 2020, Liv says she needed to create a world apart from the ‘dark cloud hanging over me, and I knew I had to write something to shift myself out of that place and mentality’. After working closely with long-term collaborating producer Lokes LDN, the pair set to creating a soulful, dance ready instrumental with the help of musicians Luke Glazher, Callum Connell and Ally McMahon. United in their commitment to delivering the strong message of Liv’s lyrics, they knew Love Frequency was set to be special.
Stream Love Frequency everywhere from 31st March and keep up to date with Liv’s journey and gigs at @liv.east on socials.
